The City of Vancouver and Vancouver Coastal Health underwent a collaborative process to develop a design for the 10th Avenue cycling route in a hospital precinct. The process involved considering the needs of many and diverse uses who depend on this key corridor, balancing priorities for vulnerable patients, emergency response vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers.

The process included a series of workshops between the two organizations and their partners, and culminated in a plan that was supported by both the City and Vancouver Coastal Health. It was adopted by City Council in 2017.
